Experience
Since 2000, I've been the CIO and Lead Engineer for BTH Solutions, LLC a consulting firm that offers a variety of computer services such as: Internet, WAN, LAN, design and implementation as well as all phases of technical support to a variety of clients, large and small. Responsible for multiple clients and projects within the commercial, not-for-profit and quasi-govenrnment sectors. My primary focus is to provide excellent service to the end user and stay within their budgetary constraints. Often this requires creative, high tech solutions with a low price tag.
Previous environments included Ciba-Corning Diagnostics where I was responsible for cross-platform communications linking networked PCs and Macs to: IBM AS/400s and Mainframes, DEC VAXs, and a variety of UNIX-based hosts. Connected LAN based E-mail system to the Internet and E-mail systems on the VAXs and UNIX-based hosts. Expanded LAN client base from 300 to 1100 users. Implemented remote access and FAX gateway servers.
The Wyatt Company where I served as Manager of Internal Systems - I managed a team of 6 technical staff, with a budget of $1.5 Million and together we implemented and installed a 300+ node, 6 server network utilizing Novell Netware v3.11; supported 30 Voice Response Units plus 290 users. Network was based on Tricord super-servers; incorporated several Novell Access Servers, a high speed modem pool, several mainframe gateways, a 50 GB read/write optical jukebox. Normal office support products like Windows, WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3, dBase and cc:Mail were supported. I was responsible for all acquisitions, network and PC support and maintenance, Mainframe connectivity, phone system and training in all aspects of these systems. In one year, we cut PC maintenance expenses from $600,000 to less than $300,000. Merged second office into existing network by bridging Arcnet into existing 10Base-T network.
